đđđ A Small Celebration + Your Help
The money stuff that you wish they taught in school
Morning everyone,
You normally donât hear from me this early in the week (itâs Monday, youâve got school and uni, so I figure youâve got enough going on đ ).
Your Update
But something kinda cool happened over the weekend.
Money Chats is now read by (just over) 3,000 of you. Every week. đ¤Ż
That is incredible. When me and my wife started doing this, we figured weâd just start without overthinking it too much because it seemed like we might be able to help a few people out with money stuff that we (and our friends) wished weâd known about a bit earlier.
We figured maybe a few dozen people would read it. So the fact itâs reaching 3,000 of you is wild.
Celebration Time
So we figured a small celebration is in order.
Weâve got the first half covered. But we need your help with the second part.
Part 1 đ - Weâre going to go for a small celebration lunch at the Vietnamese bakery down the road from our house on Sunday. Itâs family-run and they do the best Banh Mi and rice paper rolls Iâve ever tasted. And they still sell cans of soft drink for $1. Amazing.
Part 2 - Weâre going to donate $100 to a charity. Itâs not that much money in the big scheme of things. But itâs seems like a nice way to mark what is a very cool milestone. This is the part we need your help with.
Any Ideas?
I thought itâd be a good idea to ask you guys what charity you thought we should donate to.
So hereâs what weâll do.
Iâll list a few options below.
If youâve heard of / love the work of any others, just hit âreplyâ to this email and tell us their name.
In the next edition of Money Chats Iâll put a poll in so we can all vote on who we donate to đ.
At the end of the month, weâll donate the money based on whichever option you guys have voted for.
Some Options
đđ¤ The Fred Hollows Foundation - Fred Hollows was a surgeon who hated the fact that there were some people who were blind who didnât have to be. He performed surgery on those people and restored their sight. The Foundation continues that work. $27 restores sight to someone in the developing world or remote Australia.
đ Guide Dogs Australia - Guide Dogs Australia trains the dogs that help people with low vision move through the world with more confidence.
The McGrath Foundation - Set up by a former Australian cricketer after his wife, Jane, was diagnosed with breast cancer. They fund the services of Breast Care Nurses across Australia who support women and families dealing with breast cancer. Theyâve helped over 123,000 families since 2005.
These are just a few organisations full of people that do amazing work in our communities. Thereâs HEAPS more. If thereâs any youâd like included in the poll hit âreplyâ and tell us a little bit about them and Iâll make sure I put them in the next newsletter.
Before We Go
Youâve subscribed to Money Chats, read it, talked about it and shared it.
Thank you for that.
We really appreciate you giving us the chance to help you out in some small way to build your money confidence.
